Comment: Moranbong Band had given their own congratulatory concert to key scientists and top leadership, Kim Jong Un included, in the previous day in the smaller Mokran House during a banquet for their honour. https://morandisco.wordpress.com/2012-12-21/ MB had become the cream entertainer for the most important target groups, while UO gave a day later an ordinary concert for the same scientists and a larger audience. KJU hardly attended UO concerts any more, and UO on its part in its songs and videos emphasized more the praising of Kim Jong Il than that of his son. Anyway, this is a spirited good concert. The pride in the North Korean achievement can be clearly discerned also in this UO concert.

The Chollima movement was launched in 1956 in the Kangson Steel plant some kilometres down the Tedong River from Pyongyang. The song memorizes the movement, and that is why the sunset scene is that of smoking factory chimneys. Aesthetics of industrialization.

00.58.44 김정일장군의 노래 Kim Jong Il janggun ye nore Song of general Kim Jong Il 金正日将軍の歌
Composition: Sol Myong-sun 설명순, lyrics: Sin Un-ho 신운호, 1997
This song was first created in 1995 with the title 영원토록 받들리 우리 장군님 “We Will Eternally Venerate You, Our Commander”. The title was changed in 1997 during the occasion of KJI’s 55th birthday. It became an equivalent for the 1946 song ‘김일성장군의 노래’ ”Song for General Kim Il Song”, as KJI now was the sole leader of North Korea. The lyrics contained a verse saying ”He is the leader of the people, carrying forward the Sun’s cause”, implying that KJI followed the path created by KIS, but nevertheless the song implied an elevation of his ideological position to a near equal of his father.
The last song and the video were about KIS and KJI, not a trace about KJU. It cannot be said that KJU would have been missing from the concert, at least he appeared in a side role in a number of videos near the end, but otherwise the concert horizon was filled by KIS, KJI, and KWP. Many songs are the same with MBB, but the general attitude towards KJU is markedly different, UO clearly lavishing lots of praise for Kim Jong-il, fairly little on Kim Jong-un.
