Smoke at the stage. So Un-hyang singing at 18.27

Date: 2012 August 30
Theme: Youth Day “Love Motherland”
Place: People’s Theatre
Audience: Youngsters and military
KJU present with Ri Sol-ju
Choir: 50 women, 43 men, KWGU students back in the choir

Quality: not bad. 480 × 360

Comment: The date on the YouTube video, published two years after the event, is Tuesday 28.08.2012, which is wrong. UO did not perform then, and KJU was on the east coast inspecting a military unit, in the middle of a taifuun. August 30 is a more probable date.
There was also another UO concert in the previous day, but according to the KCNA, its content was slightly different from this one, and KJU&RSU did not attend it.

This is the only known video where RSJ appeared as a member of the audience in an UO concert. She looks so different from the energetic and happy lady on stage; very subdued. Public protocol at the very top appears to hit people hard.

Thus they presumably have been performing already in numerous concerts while still being students. Rom and Kim have been with UO since the first concert with students in 20100500, while Sin and Han debuted as solists in 20110204, but at least Han appeared in the student choir already in 2010.

47.59 어디에 계십니까 그리운 장군님 Ŏdie kyesimnigga kŭriun jangunnim Where are you, General? どこにいらっしゃいますか、恋しい将軍様
From 당의 참된 딸 A True Daughter of the Party 党の真の娘, 1971; one of the five important North Korean revolutionary operas, telling about a nurse during the Korean war. The opera and the song are credited to Kim Jong-il. The general in the song originally of course referred to Kim Il Song, but in summer 2012 Kim Jong-il had become the main referent, as the background video tells.

MB performed this a bit earlier in 20120728; these orchestras are not separate phenomena, as a previously unheard 1950s song suddenly appears in the repertoire of both orchestras roughly at the same time.

She has not been seen since 20120425, i.e., she missed 3 concerts in a row. Quite typical of UO. People come, people go, then they one day come again.

The song seems to have been written between 2012.4.15 when KJU gave a speech in a military parade in honour of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Kim Il Song using the expression of the title, and 2012.06.26 when the notes and lyrics were published in Rodong Sinmun. It was thus a fresh new song for Unhasu Orchestra to perform. For some reason MB never took it. Also UO performed this song only once.
Grande finale starts

Grande finale continues

01.13.37 Ending ceremonies.

Stage end 20120830 01.14.42

Everything appears to be ok with UO. KJU songs are performed at the end with the same enthusiasm as Moranbong Band does it. No problems visible anywhere; even though one saxophonist has left. But movement of people, in and out,  was usual for the orchestra.
