Comments: This was a meticulously planned KJI memorial concert. Yet, the songs performed were not only sad, but also happy ones, namely songs that KJI had to some extent created. This started another concert series, which lasted at least to February 24, when KJU again attended the concert.
The number of people who saw the concert was not told, but as Ryukyong Chung Ju-yung Gymnasium is much bigger than East Pyongyang Grand Theatre, where 12 000 people heard the concert series in a week, perhaps some 7 x 15 000 = 105 000 people heard this one.

A most lavishly decorated stage was built for the occasion, including a replica of the Jongil Peak of the Pektu Mountain, named after the deceased leader. The choir sang from its lower slope.

KJU becomes a performing star on his own right, cameras following his entrances and exits, as well as his moods during the performance of the main orchestra.

… why was she taken to play in these memorial concerts, and why was her name displayed in the video? Rare for backstage musicians. Is she somehow related?

17.58 나의 어머니 Naye ŏmŏni My mother 私の母
Because the song is placed here, lyrics probably were written by KJI. If any of the leading Kims were somehow connected with the creation of a song, it always clouds information on any lesser personages who might have had a hand with the final product. However, Hwang Jin-yong 황진영 composed a song with the same title in 1991. It is not known whether this is the same one.

01.15.03 김정일장군의 노래 Kim Jong Il jangun ye nore Song of general Kim Jong Il 金正日将軍の歌
Composition: Sol Myong-sun 설명순, lyrics: Sin Un-ho 신운호, 1997
First created in 1995 with the title 영원토록 받들리 우리 장군님 “We Will Eternally Venerate You, Our Commander”. The title was changed during the occasion of KJI’s 55th birthday in 1997. Thus the song became an equivalent for the 1946 song ‘김일성장군의 노래’ ”Song for General Kim Il Song”, as KJI now was the sole leader of North Korea after the death of KIS in 1994.

Stage end 20120217 01.15.51 s

01.16.00 Ending ceremonies.
The KJU thumb was visible here for the first time. His grand departure.
